LATEST NEWS - Online grocer BigBasket plans to work with offline partners to secure its delivery dominance

BENGALURU: India's largest online grocer BigBasket will soon offer delivery in 60 minutes or less through collaborations with neighbourhood stores, cultivating offline partners to secure its dominance as Amazon and other electronic stores pitch themselves closer to shoppers' homes. BigBasket will also establish co-branded pickup points as well as sell its own brand of gourmet staples at its partner stores, aiming for significantly higher margins from this category. For express delivery, the company has tied up with local stores to promise delivery within an hour of at least 400 items that it has identified as household essentials. The stores will handle the delivery with their own staff, while BigBasket will offer its technology to manage inventory.

ചുവരിലെ ചെറിയ ഹോളിലൂടെ ബിസോയുടെ വാല് മാത്രമാണ് പുറത്തേക്ക് കാണാമായിരുന്നത്. പതിവായി റെയില്‍വേ സ്‌റ്റേഷനില്‍ എത്തുന്ന അങ്കിള്‍ അബ്‌ദോ എന്ന വൃദ്ധനാണ് പൂച്ചയ്ക്ക് ഹോളിലൂടെ ഭക്ഷണം നല്‍കിയിരുന്നത്. ഇദ്ദേഹം നല്‍കിയ ഭക്ഷണവും വെള്ളവും കഴിച്ചാണ് ബിസോ അഞ്ച് വര്‍ഷം ജീവന്‍ നിലനിര്‍ത്തിയത്. 2011ല്‍ ഈജിപ്റ്റില്‍ ആഭ്യന്തര സംഘര്‍ഷം രൂക്ഷമായിരുന്നപ്പോള്‍ പോലും അങ്കിള്‍ അബ്‌ദോ മുടങ്ങാതെ റെയില്‍വേ സ്‌റ്റേഷനില്‍ എത്തി ബിസോയ്ക്ക് ഭക്ഷണവും വെള്ളവും നല്‍കിയിരുന്നു.

ഈജിപ്ഷ്യന്‍ നിയമപ്രകാരം റെയില്‍വേ സ്‌റ്റേഷന്റെ ചുവര്‍ തകര്‍ക്കുന്നത് കേസാകുമെന്നതിനാലാണ് ഭിത്തി പൊട്ടിച്ച് ബിസോയെ പുറത്തെത്തിക്കാനുള്ള ശ്രമങ്ങള്‍ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചത്. ഒടുവില്‍ മൃഗസ്‌നേഹികളുടെ സമ്മര്‍ദ്ദം ശക്തമായതോടെയാണ് പൂച്ചയെ സാഹസികമായി പുറത്തെത്തിച്ചത്. അഞ്ച് മണിക്കൂര്‍ നീണ്ട ശ്രമത്തിനൊടുവിലാണ് ബിസോയെ പുറത്തെത്തിച്ചത്. അഞ്ച് വര്‍ഷത്തിന് ശേഷം പുറം ലോകം കണ്ടതിന്റെ സന്തോഷത്തിലായിരുന്നു ബിസോ.

Facebook tracking of online activity breaches EU law, report says

Facebook can track your online activity even if you don't have a Facebook account, and that may breach European privacy laws, according to a report by two Belgian universities.

According to the report, first reported by the Guardian, Facebook uses cookies to track people's online activity without their consent – even if they have logged out of Facebook, deactivated their account, or specifically opted out of online advertising in Europe.

The report was ordered by the Belgian Privacy Commission, with research conducted at the University of Leuven and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, after the commission determined that Facebook's privacy policies, which were updated in January, violated European customer privacy laws.

It says that Facebook's revised data use policy has enabled the social media giant "to create a vast advertising network which uses data from inside and outside Facebook to target both users and non-users of Facebook."
